The Power Bug Is Calling!
Evening all, as above, it will soon be time to purchase some goodies for my UK Classic MY99. I have been living with my scoob running around 280bhp for just over a year now. It still feels quick, however, as I am sure most of you have experienced I am now getting the urge for more power!
I am intending to purchase a Walbro fuel pump and a new/second hand turbo. While the turbo is off I will also fit a de cat pipe. I am thinking of a VF34/35 and I am looking for around 320-300bhp. I would like more, however, as it's a UK classic I am aware of its standard limitations. The car has done 73k and is running faultlessly.
The question really is what other turbo combinations are there for my requirements? How much will the turbo cost? When the MOT is due will it pass by fitting the centre cat that was fitted to the original system?
Thanks in advance, Martin.

Thanks Andy, I'm not overly concerned as I have a friendly mechanic who can put the cat back on pretty quick. I'm just wondering what other turbo options I have. I'm already using PFR7's and the MY99 has 440's fitted as standard so I think I only need the turbo and fuel pump then it will be ready for Mr Rawle to work his magic.

think vf34/35 are good for 350bhp+ and id recomend not pushing a standard uk block above that and gear box with the torque can suffer above 350 so id stay at what your wanting 320bhp (more fun fewer repairs etc) which these turbos will achive, think vf34 will spool slightly quicker being ball bearing type..

Thanks for your replies, time to save a few more pennies and go for the VF34 then. Can't wait to get the ball rolling. Would the VF34 be a straight swap? Just another thought, I know a front mount would be an option but will the standard top mount provide adequate cooling? Power its so addictive
