Default Cheaper way to reprogram Keys?

I have pruchased a std STI 7 ECU for my car to tinker with for a little bit, but obviously I now have the problem my keys not matching the ECU (immoliser) is there a quick and easy way of registering my existing keys with the new ECU without having to go to Subaru and being fleeced of 45quid for a ten minute job ?

Is there a chip in it ? I have swapped ecu`s on my V7 sti jdm and never had a issue(is mine faulty) I assumed they only came with the alarm/immobilliser not a transponder type built in.

Mines a UK car so not sure if the ECU's differ in some way buddy..... The UK cars have an alarm/Immobilliser with a transponder in the key and the keys HAVE to match the ECU or the car just won't start, highly bloody annoying

I am not aware of an OS way to do this been looking for a while now.

All ecutek dealers have this option available and may well charge less than a main dealer

Cheers Dynamix, you are the second person to say about EcuTek dealers, I don't think there are any close enough that would make the work cheaper than taking it to a Stealer

Ho hum booked in for tomorrow now

Ta for the responses

Go to the SIDC strictly technical section and look at the top for the Sigma Sam thread, pour yourself a brew and read...
