Just about to refit my engine to the car (classic) but i am just thinking i have no idea how to fit the clutch fork back in and working. Do you mount the engine to the gearbox first then try get the fork onto the bearing?

Please guys any help would be good.

you need to remove the retaining clip on the inside of the pressure plate, thats what locks the release bearing in the pressure plate

Nice one fella! I am in the garage now and it seems to be a problem to get it off. So once it is off and you mount it onto the fork set up, how does it connect its self again. Do you just pust the clutch pedal?

There's a knack. Can't remember which way round it is but you either put a screwdriver between the two "collars" of the clip and lever them apart, or you press them together. One way or the other, the bearing will just fall out of the clip.

Again depending on which way round it is (collar "in" or collar "out"), you just push the release bearing towards the clutch cover (with your hand on the other end of the fork) and you'll feel it click into place. Once you get it out, practice putting it back in again until you're confident of the method, then assemble it into the gearbox.

as above really i just mount it on the fork, put cross shaft in then when box is in just pull fork towards back of box.you should feel it lock in,once its in push the fork towards the engine to make sure the fork stops before it hits the bellhousing, then you'll know its in right.

takes longer to type then it actually takes to do ha ha
