Default Lost Power after fitting BOV

Help please....

I fitted a BOV, instantly lost power, top end was same but aceleration was crap! put the origional back on, no better.......Took the car to Scoobie world and they refitted the new BOV, checked the car reset the ECU then dyno tested came out at 239bhp, car was running at 261bhp, so lost 22bhp some where.......

Anyone got any ideas.....have checked all pipes, none loose all tight.

I am stumped.........Dont know where to go from here.....

Have read a few links on another forum where some guys have had similar problems after fitting BOV's and in one case an exhaust.......Is this a known problem with the ECU.....would i need to get it re maped.

Its a known problem with a BOV - it causes the ecu to get the fuel mix wrong (rich) by blowing off already metered air.

Waste of time and money (and an embarasssssssing noise) unless you're running a big turbo that is putting a load of boost into the engine

i had this problem what year and version is ur car? things to check make sure all the pipe work is secure and air tight, fit new hoses if poss, try disconnecting the battery for a hour, then start the car up again and let it idle for 2-3mins so the ecu recognises a change in pressure.

its a 2001 bugeye. have checked hoses, but new ones on the way just in case.
Have reset the ECU already....

I have got a manafold exhaust and a high flow cat being fitted on Fri....then it is booked in for an ECU remap. Will this sort out the problem ?

you said you put the original one back on afterwards to retest and you were still down on power - did you reset the ecu again when you refitted the old one back on ? I am not saying i know but it seems odd that the problem wouldn't be cured by reverting back to the old BOV once your ECU was reset?? It sounds to me that something else when wrong after it was fitted. Did you have the fault codes read when you had it dyno'd? It could be a vacumn leak or a crack venting gasses somewhere else - downpipe/manifold? Reason i say that, had a turbo saxo (don't laugh i know!) and fitted a BOV, had similar issue, found it was a vac leak and a new set of uprated samco's cured it. They could take more boost. Just a thought. Hope you get it sorted buddy.
