Default is my gearbox dead

hi all i was approaching a roundabout a minute ago going down the gears got into 2nd put my foot on the gas and all i got was a loud rumbling noise and its only in 2nd gear anyone got any ideas what it might be im proper gutted as its been running really well and i just treated it to a new set of rota gra

when you start it does it make a noise like somthings going round and round, also does it go in gear

When my classic destroyed third gear there was no mistaking that. Although it still went into the gears and would drive (apart from third)it sounded like a blender going full of nuts and washers . All better now but the bank balance is abit poorley.

it sounds just like gmballistic said but mine is in 2nd you can also slightly hear it on tick over. a mate just had a look he said i have sheered the teeth on 2nd so iv now gotta look for a 98uk turbo2000 wagon gear box

It's a nightmare I know. It's not cheap but re-con or rebuild your oe gearbox is what I'd recommend so you can atleast get some piece of mind after it's fitted & even possibly a warranty. Goodluck with it
