Default uk wrx engine

my year 2000 uk spec wrx has a vf 34 turbo,4inch straight through exaust, boost controller, adjustable fuel pressure regulator & front mount intercooler.I was doing a track day & it started puting oil out through the dump valve & into the intercooler !! done a compresion test & it was well down on one cyclinder so stripped the engine & found a broken piston just at the ring land & the big end bearings were just about to let go but nothing else that i can find. can anybody tell me would this cause the oil in the intercooler? (there was a lot of it) or am i looking for somthing else as well thanks barryg741

The oil in the intercooler might be related to the failure, or it might simply be oil p*ss*ng through the PCV system and getting dumped back into the inlet.

Who mapped the car btw?

Really? 2000 UK turbo, 2000 JDM WRX or 01 UK WRX methinks? (noting that an 01MY car can be registered in 00, but its still an 01MY car!)

Yes the increased blowby from the failing piston will mean an increase in breather gas volume and velocity with more oil being carried over through the breather.....
