Resonator... makes the induction noise quieter. It has a pipe from the Idle control valve connected to it and a vacuum feed from the boost solenoid too.

Airbox (with panel filter inside) ---> MAF unit ---> 90deg 80mm hose ---> 2nd resonator chamber (quietens down intake air) ---> 90deg 70mm-to-58mm turbo intake hose...

EDIT: Plus what Gaz has said about the pipes to the resonator lol

Pretty sure you can leave the boost vacuum one vent to atmos at the resonator end... that pipe has a small brass restrictor pill in it so the pipe has to stay connected at the boost solenoid end.

Think the Idle control valve one would need to stay connected to the intake... guessing it needs to be connected after the MAF as it needs to be metered air?

Yeah, the BCS's bottom vac vent hose can be left to VTA, but you best fashion a port for the res. del. pipe for the ISCV's intake return hose.

Either that or try to get hold of the MRT res. del., or the K&N 57i, or Apexi Power Intake one, for the MY93-96 cars...

That's the Boost Control Solenoid (BCS), which is an electronically-controlled boost bleed valve, basically.

It's plumbed in between the compressor's bleed nipple and the wastegate actuator's vac inlet nipple. It interacts with info supplied by the ECU's various I/O sensors to alter the amount of boost at any given time. So if any of the sensors indicate something's awry, the ECU can control the BCS to lower the boost duty cycle so that the engine won't grenade... Or, converesly, if the info from the sensors is all 'good', then the ECU can tell it to give max boost - either the OEM level or new mapped level (and up to the MAP sensor's limit)...

thats your boost solenoid... usually causes overboosting if it gets dirt inside, dont think it causes stalling though.

That's the 3rd port bled-air vent-pipe - can either go to res box or left open in engine bay. Shouldn't affect running.

It can be left to vent to atmos yes but the nipple on the resonator should be blocked if you leave the pipe off other wise a tiny amount of air will be getting in un-metered by the MAF... cant seeing it being enough to cause much difference to the running but should be sealed anyway.

Yes.

Some goon has plugged my res box's hole with a screw! Although I suppose it does the job just as well lol.

Res box'll soon be junked though...Will be getting a remap with a FMIC and IK and the IK includes MRT's all-metal black res del pipe with the thin entry tube for the BCS's vent pipe to attach to.

Hey guys, the little pipe from the bottom of the boost solenoid, if i vent to atmos i have huge over boost. Thats with the resonator box hole plugged and with the pill in the pipe. You sure its a good idea to vent?

But are you also saying that you DON'T get the overboosting when it's recirced back to the res box, then?

What induction kit is that you have in the pictures above... mine is strange at the min, as its pretty much straight and no 90degree bend, which means its in the way of the Front Mount pipes

mbd sti2's IK is a pick and mix affair:-

Cone... standalone 80mm 90deg Samco... MRT's res del... standalone 70mm-to-58mm 90deg Samco turbo pipe (modded to fit the 2 oil breather pipes).
