Default random dipstick....maybe to auto box??

i just took off my intercooler to sort out a pipe, when i found a dipstick running to what looks like the base of my automatic gear box....is it? or is it to something else weird and japanese??!! either way i pulled it out, and it is running low on whatever pinky reddy oil substance is in it. does anyone know what it does and how i can top it up???? and what with??!!

95 wrx auto

thanks again

im getting to know my subaru, which is why i keep posting stupid questions like this up. please dont mock!!!

Gearbox dipstick is correct
Topping up is via a funnel placed into that tube.

I don't think the Auto's run on 75/90 More likely Psf FLuid or a Hydraulic Type.
Best to check before topping up.

k, well i have just put half a litre of that castrol diff oil in the tube to top it up, it could take a little more i think. I havn't driven the car yet, but i reckon the oher dipstick i found on the other side (turbo side) and a little further up is for the autobox itself. Its more dull looking oil than the other one when i pulled out the rod.

I'm getting confused quite quickly here!!

how long will my car last if i have put the wrong stuff in the wrong hole!!?!

that subaru service manual link is good, but it doesn't cover anything to do with auto transmissions, unless im being a blind twaat. which is v.possible.
