ok had a number plate that came with the car and its fallen off on the way down to goodwood. Not sure on what size it was however was is the legal size of plate that an actual jap import car can get???

I've read that real imports can get a different size plate from the square import uk size.

No you read wrong, it will fail its MOT if the number plate is not the same as a UK one, the only cars exempt are those with square plate positions fitted.
