Default CEL light

Hi Guys, i've searched and cannot find this one recently, my CEL has come on a couple of times after a hard blast, i stop or slow down and it goes of again, when i check the codes by connecting the wires together under the steering column, the CEL light stays on, lots of clicks from behind the dash and the radiator fan stops and starts, but no CEL flashing.

The car is a MY98 turbo 2000

You need to connect just the black wires to read error codes

Thank s for that, got error 24 which is idle control valve etc, any issues with running with a failing ICV?

I remebered after reading the error, i took it to my local scooby garage in bristol about 8 months ago because the valve was making ticking noise and the workshop supervisor "initials DB" said not to worry about it. should i bother with it?

Can't see it doing any harm. Maybe it just needs cleaning try doing a search.
