Default 6k question

ive got a my93 jdm wrx.i fitted a 6k to it a while back no probs, only thing is i went for my mot and it failed on emissions.would the 6k make this happen??my levels were co 0.30/0.62 fast idle,0.30/0.48 2nd fast idle and 0.50/1.00 natural idle but passed on hc and lamda which were 200/63 ppm 0.97-1.03/0.999,200/61 ppm 0.97-1.03/1.002.
do you think my prob is the 6k.??

Sure it was tested correctly as i've just had my MOT done and CO < 3.50 is what mine was tested to (my reading was 1.01) this was done by Nationwide Auto centre (i will dig out my old emissions tests this evening)

On a side note your 6K is running fine as i put one in my 93wrx and the map sensor came up as an error.

This is a bit of a grey area i'm afraid, the sheet that the mot tester refers to is this:

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/repo...01992-2002.pdf

The grey area all revolves around the section that say's "can you find an exact match in the database"

Some testers see that there is data for a Subaru Impreza Turbo, and then carry out a cat test, the argument that "It's a WRX, and that is not specificaly listed, so you must carry out a non cat test" can be argued the other way by refering to the fact that it was built with a cat fitted so should have a cat test + when you refer to the section that say's:

NOTE 2. Exact Match:
To find an exact match in the current emissions data book, you will need the make, model and other data
such as engine size, model code, engine code, VIN code or serial number.

The problem here is that the car is a Subaru, The model is an Impreza and the engine code is an EJ20G, all the same as an european car!

So if the tester want's to carry out a cat test then he has all the ammo he needs to do so.

On the other hand, if the tester is sympathetic or a Subaru fan, then he could quite ligitimately say "I can't find WRX listed" and then carry out a non cat test"

My mot tester showed my why he tests it as a non cat test.
Pretty sure it had something to do with the VIN number (imports are 9 digits,UK are 17 digits) therefore the inability to find a correct match.
