GEMS EMS ... have some questions to the tuners please.
Had bought a second hand Gems R series ecu for my 1999 STi. The ecu is a bolt on and seems to have a Ver0.71 calibration on it. The thing on the gems website the basemap for my Ver V Sti seems to be saved as a V2.30. I tried using the convert option from v2.3 to v0.71 but the car still won't fire up. Contacted gems aswell and told them about my setup and they sent me a v0.71 map which the car should have fired up with (they weren't sure if it will work or not) and in the end it didn't aswell.
I'm looking to see if anyone is running a Gems ecu on a 1999 STi with a Ver 0.71 calibration. Just need a basic map to get the car started so I can work around mapping the everything. Obviously the better the map the simpler will the things for me hehe. Also I'm running an external map sensor and temp sensor because got rid of the MAF sensor.
Personally I think the solution for my problem is sending the ecu to Gems and getting the v2.3 firmware loaded up on the ecu so I can start the car with the gems basemap but gems seem not to get the point that I'm looking to do this.
Any input is very very welcome. Keep in mind I'm in Malta so can't take the car anywere to check hehe. Its the first time I got stuck with a standalone and the main problem is that you need to pay for everything from gems.

Give thes guys a ring and ask to speak to Steve Simpson, he is their mapper and looks after my GEMS on a bugeye. He has a heck of a lot of experience on GEMS.

That will be a gm 3bar map sensor.
Have you set the map up for that sensor?
Is it correctly reading atmospheric?
Try original sensor to check that is the issue

Yeah and changed the option aswell from the full list to map sensor on like Gems told me. When referring to the original sensor which one would that be mate ? Does the R series Gem have an internal one by any chance ? ( I thought it might but Gems didnt mention anything)

Car has a 2.5bar map sensor as standard, on driverside inner wing.
Where have you wired the gems supplied sensor?
Connect to ecu and open the fuel map, where does it plot load? Crank the engine does it pull a vac and go down the map.
Did it run on oe ecu ok?
Is the only change the gems?
Not changed cambelt?
Look up the sync flag is it going true when cranking?
