Removing ABS

Removing ABS
Has anyone done it?
I have never tackled this.
I asume for MOT purposes
Pull the fuse, blank of the ABS light,
I am under the impression the master cylinder would need to be changed as they are different.
Some one mentioned that the check engine light comes on when the ABS is removed...is this true?
Any advice welcomed

I asked a similar question a few days ago and didn't come up with much. As for being illegal, why? As long as you have working brakes and your insurance is aware of the mods then there should be no legal issues unless a law has been passed that states all cars of a certain age must have ABS

I thought that MOT wise if the car comes from factory with ABS as standard then you MUST have it in working order in order to pass, therefore if you just blanked off the light the MOT test centre would assume your ABS was in full working order, if crashed and insurance found out would this not void your MOT therefore voiding your insurance?

So how do rally cars get around this, many of them leave the factory with ABS and remove it during prep, they still have MOTs.
As for insurance, as long as you declare mods then you should be okay. The only rider I have on my policy is regarding decatting, and that will void my insurance declared or not. No mention of ABS or any other driver aid.
