What to buy?
Guys,
I was wondering what the difference s between a dump valve, a blow off valve and a wastegate?
What's the best for a MY99 Turbo 2000, considering the budget's £70 max?
Which one sounds the best?
Which one's best for the engine/turbo?
Thanks

You already have a wastegate to that gets rid of exhaust gasses that build up to protect your turbo...
A dump valve sound im presuming is what your after, in wich case a hks sequential sounds the best but is over 200 pound new. not sure second hand.. If your budhet is 70 pound i know in my younger days i brought a baileys off ebay for 50 pound didnt cause me any problems and sounded quite nice..
Its just purely personal preference some people stick with the standard one you will already have on there....
hope that helps

Ive got a baileys dv on one of my turbos and it used to sound like a deep low fart until i up'd my boost.. Now it sounds the ****. Ive got the trumpet one and it cost me £115 at a show but you can get a nice normal dv for £70
Ive just found this for less...
BAILEYS DUMP VALVE DV26 NEVER USED - TWIN PISTON on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Vehicle Parts Accessories (end time 22-Jun-09 12:11:14 BST)

Its the dump valve/blow off valve that are the same and the one you need to change.. leave the wastegate as it is unless you change to a straight through de-cat it can help having external wastegate if you remove restrictions in the exhaust system.. but thats another ball game...
Just get yourself a d/v and if you want help in fitting then just shout up mate, very easy to do but there is always someone on here that will point you in the right direction....enjoy !!!!!

Cheers wraggy!
I'll contact you once I get one, ive noticed they sell loads on e bay but theyre just the valves themselves. Do I need to purchase the fitting kit too or is there a way around that?
Thanks

When you put your foot on the clutch, or let off the accelerator, the boost the turbo is kicking out has nowhere to go, as the engine doesn't want it. To stop the boost tracking back through the turbo, and stalling it, the dump valve releases the boost. The standard DV is a recirculating type, and vents the boost into the intake, and as such is quiet.
The one your after is a VTA(vent to atmosphere), which gives the noise.
Personally, i wouldn't change the standard one. There are many people(including me) who have had running problems with the VTA DV's, such as over fueling, which can damage your engine. Mine made the car twitchy, and over fueling made it run badly.
There are also many people who run them with no issues mind.
The waste gate is internal to the turbo, and opens when boost gets too high, venting the boost into the exhaust.
