Default How much power can an auto box take?

I have a 1995 import turbo wagon. It's an automatic, so was wondering if anyone knew how much power I can upgrade the engine with before worrying about blowing up the gearbox?? I'm not sure how much its actually kicking out as its an import. How would I find out?

220ps is standard but i would presume a rolling road could give you reading of what your car is actually producing.
1 guy on my local club has 272bhp and 260lb/ft of torque (fmic and Apex power fc mapped by JGM iirc) from a 95 wrx wagon.
