Default ABS Problems

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and looking for some advice.
I have got a very annoying problem with my Subaru Imprezza WRX 52' it would appear that my ABS is kicking in too soo. When I lightly press my break you can hear it bang on literally. If I am on an inclined going downhill and I put your break on when I realise it to creep forwards I can feel it vibrating underneth the peddle. Althought it does not happen everytime I apply the break. I have had it to 4 different people 2 of which were Subaru specialists who do not have a clue what the problem is.

Any advice would be much appreciated thanks

probably one of the pick up rings has a crack on it. Its a matter of taking the wheels off and checking the rings very carefully. Ive had this on a few cars where braking lightly brings the abs on. its always been a cracked ring.

In my experiance this fault with the ABS comming in early is because it thinks a wheel is about to lock due to a rouge signal being received from one of the wheel speed sensors.

I would check the ABS sensor "pick up rings" for a crack or a missing tooth as this would cause your symptoms.

On the front they are located on the outer driveshaft CV joint & I believe that you would have to remove the shafts on a 02my wrx to check them.

On the rear they are fitted to the hub flange & you would have to remove the brake discs to check them.

Failing that, it sounds like one of your wheel speed sensors is starting to play up but not in a bad enough condition yet to initiate the ABS warning lamp.

Finally got to hit the reply button whilst juggling work duties & Scoobynet to find that Turbotits has beaten me to it.

Glad we agree on the fault diagnosis.
