Default gearbox and diff replacing

My gear box has just chewed its self up and i carnt seem to find
one with the same codes as mine. I take it i can not just put anyone in
because the box to diff ratio will be out and i will probs brake something else.
Ive found a gearbox off a 98 wrx that comes with the diff thats going cheep,
the brakers say it will go strate in.
Is this right or will i need new drive shafts and other bits.
Im desprate to get my scooby out now as its been two weeks since i last drove it and it killing me
plz help
