dont look it,just looks slightly damp with a very light film of oil & genral road dirt is it leaving any drips on the floor?

You'll might well find it was as a result of the last time it was changed. Is there any signs of a leak? It the drain nut tight? Have you checked the levels (on a flat surface it should fill to the bottom of the fill nut directly above)

Have you tried cleaning it up and seeing if it comes back? Oil has a habit of collecting road grime and looking worse than it is.

I had something similar when I cracked the case (through meddling as usual) and it seemed to leech up from where the seal was broken on the gasket.
