Default cams, in comparison

well, i've been after a set of sti v2 cams. but not having much look
so, which other cams can i use, to give a better bottom end.

there going in uk heads, my95

solid hydrolic lifters ect.
the engine is fitted with sti v4 forged pistons.
and this is the reason i need better cams, the uk ones are no good as a mix to the pistons installed.

any info, inc cam number would be great.
or even offer for a set of better performing cams that will work alot better

thanks guys

What sort of boost do you want to run? If you have a std bottom end apart from the pistons, you really can't go much over 350bhp without it going pop. You will gain very little by changing the cams at that stage. Your cams will work fine with those pistons, it doesn't really have much bearing at that stage of tune. Just make sure you use the correct thickness headgaskets to get correct comp ratio. Cometic 1.6mm should do the job.

but for some reason. the mix with the pistons, cam pullies & cams. at 1.3bar, its running at 317bhp

i was told the timming was out, but after looking at every thing.
it could be the cams.

the cams are for standard, but slightly higher compresion pistons
but for strengh, i put sti v4 pistons in there. but left the uk heads with the standard uk cams.

theres no bottom end at all, till the turbo kicks in. them bam!!!
so i'm basicly looking for a set of cams, that go good with the pistons.
this should also raise the bhp lever slightly higher. if say 330bhp, the torque im getting is 313ftlb.

the car is fitted with a td05, with phase 2 440cc injectors. it should be running around the 330 mark

but due to the cams (im very sure this is the issue) so i'm trying to find out, just which cams will fit in the uk heads. but give the car that little more kick

the gaskets i used was a standard size for the 2.0 but multi layer subaru ones
hope this is of help, or exsplaise a little more

Hmmmmmmmmm, could be down to the mapping, who done it? STI cams are a higher lift so in general terms power is pushed up the revs, not down. although there are many other factors to consider. I would of thought it would be hard to find a set of cams to fit your heads, what about a re-profiled set from piper?
