Default Headlight washer pump

Hi all

i know its only a small problem but my headlight washers have stopped working, first of all is there a seperate pump for the headlights? if so where is it?

i think there may be a problem with the power for it, as when i press the button the relay clicks but nothing happens and no water is leaking anywhere so the pipes have not split or anything,

thinking it may be located in the bumper or something?

i have a uk turbo 2000

James

Yes ther is a separate pump for it. Its on the bottom of the bottle, has a thicker pipe coming out of it.

You know you have to have the headlights on for the washers to work, right?

No, on the bottom of the windscreen washer bottle, it has its own pump. The windscreen one is on the side.

The Motor usually seizes due to the seal between the pump and motor failing, you can bend the metal tags back, split the pump from the motor and turn the motor manually. I've done this once and filled the motor with electrical lubricant, wd40 should do the trick. this has worked for me for about 7 months now.

My headlamp washer system has stopped in exactly the same way...

i.e. the relay clicks but no action at the pump.

Found the pump on the bottle and checked power to the pump which was good (you can also check this out by swapping the connectors from the windscreen washer pump - the headlamp washer switch quite happily drives the windscreen washers)

So the headlamp pump is at fault.

I have separated the pump from the motor, and found that the spindle of the motor was stuck. After some fiddling, it came free but felt very "gritty" inside for want of another word.

I have tried to open this motor, but cannot find a way into it. Anyone have any ideas ???

At that point I stopped as i couldn't fire up the motor.

After seeing a post on here to try WD40, I think I'll give it a go tonight to see if it gets my motor going.

If I cannot get it going, does anyone know where I can source one of these motors?

cheers all

Well the WD40 failed to do the trick, so looks like I'll have to source a new motor.

Anyone know where from ?
