my windscreen washer doesn't work, when i press the button the wipers move but it does not spray.

the bottle is full and everything visiible seems to be attached.

is this likely to be a hidden tube or and electrical wire?

Not sure what year you have, but on classics with washer jets on the bumpers, you will see two pipes. One is fairly thick, thats for the bumper jets, the other is for the windscreen. But obviously you want to check the pump makes a whirring sound.

Another thing to consider, although you did say you pressed the button, is that if you pull the leaver towards you, like you do to activate the washers in other cars, the wipers will move. You need to actually press the button on the end of the stalk for the washers.
But you probably already did that.

when you press the button can you hear the pump running? If so, try opening the bonnet and test it open - does it work now? I had this last week after changing the spark plugs. I was absolutely SURE I connected all the washer pipes etc back together. Turns out the hose was kinking when the bonnet closed so the water couldn't get through

Hi, its in the inside fusebox and its fuse number 15 should be a 20 amp although it does also control the wipers so if they still work then it is not that I'm afraid.

you never said - can you actually hear the pump running when you pull the stalk? because that's a vital clue as to where to be looking for fault/s

ah ok. in that case you can stop looking for kinks and blocked filters. for now anyway

It's got to be either the pump or an electrical connection/fuse/relay problem then.

You probably fixed this by now...... searching for a solution I found something which is rarely mentioned. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3605787309...84.m1497.l2648

It is the No Return connector between the nozzle and tube to wash bay. When no water at all comes out of one of the jet nozzles and the other sprays you know something is up with that nozzle. Turns out there is this No return connector which has a spring ball inside it. This allows water to go 1 way and not back. My old one packed in. It was the spring against the bally. Supposedly 5mm for classic scooby (but this 4mm worked the same). Was happy to see it squirting again

Hello fellow sufferers, my left hand washer jets work fine, the right hand drivers side ones suddenly packed in the other day. I've poked a pin on it, also put my thumb over the working one to try to force the water through the other one, then did a forum search and found this about the one-way valve, which IS after the working jet, and just before the non-working one. So far, I've never touched the plumbing, thinking it all looks sealed, but is it easy to part the pipework and how do you remove a jet to check it, thanks. This on a MY 2000 Classic.
Of course, the ebay link in the previous post is long dead so don't know what was being referred to by Championcat.

Don, you're an absolute guardian angel to this site! Many thanks. 👍
27 Aug, and a quick update, ordered a new non-return valve from Scoobyworld at Loughborough, part number 786634050 as per Don's reply... fitted today, washers restored to working order. 👍
