Default Windscreen jet washers coming on at high speed!

Slightly random

What could cause the windscreen jet washers to come on at high speed!

Bit off putting to say the least!

Cheers

Evening....

1. Extreme heat is expanding the washer fluid, if it is a weepy sort of emission....

2. Someone has swapped your I.C. water spray feed with your washer jet supply. Both near the passenger side front strut.

The i.c. spray may be activated at high boost levels on your car, mine isn't as it's an early manual only switch.

Try opening the bonnet and getting someone to tweak your wash/wipe and look for water spraying from the bonnet mounted jets towrds the i.c.

HTH

P.S. Or you have a huge electrical gremlin in the works....

I checked the IC spray lines- they are in the right place (however I did find the IC was only drippling so just spent 1hour getting that going- there was some white stuff in the water - hard water buildup- going to use deionised from now?) anyway

It is more of a splurge than a jet so point 2 makes sense- I will empty the washer tank

Thanks a lot ---will report back

On my 04 WRX, I had an issue with a larger top mount intercooler hitting the underbonnet washer pipes when on the move causing water to be sucked from the bottle and squirted onto the screen.

I'd check to see if the pipes are fouling.

Like you said, off putting

Mine dribble...

But I use the IC tank and pump for my washers !

Needed some room under the bonnet for catch can, etc. so off came the washer bottle !

LOL

The pipe was a little loose (the clips that hold it against the bonnet are broken) and it could/would have fallen between the IC and the strut - I now reckon this was it...

Cheers guys
