Default Boost build up on idle?????

Hi guys. I have fitted a VF22 in my 97 WRX RA.

The boost guage shows the building up of pressure of boost on idle???
If i keep the car going and driving about its fine.

any advice would be good.

Impossible.... you are on vacuum on idle.

Are you reading the gauge right?

You did fit it to the manifold and not the turbo outlet?

Yea i never moved the vac pipe for guage but when i drive the car its good and boosts to 12psi.

When on idle it doesnt have complete vacum e.g -20psi, but it builds up from that to approx -5 and it idles lump as f**k.

I got no idea what it could be. ECU has had remp, injectors are 440cc and got a FMIC. Ive double checked the vacum piping for boost and mapping and there all intacted and in right places.

Will a boost controller solve over boost on idle or just under load boost?? cheers guys Ross

As said above.... unless it reads higher than zero it is on vacuum. Boost by nature is off vacuum not on vacuum, i.e. boost is POSITIVE pressure not below zero as anything below zero is vacuum.

A boost controller will control just that, boost... again positive pressure.

You can't overboost or even boost on idle mate, you are misunderstanding the readings. If your car runs lumpy it sounds like you have an air leak of some sort.

You seem to have the fundamentals mixed up.

I would suggest you book it in with a specialist for a quick check over.
