My v2 sti impreza has just started to burn abit of oil. It only appears to do this after i turn the key to start it. I get a small plume of blue smoke then it goes. Its doesnt smoke on tick over and doesnt appear to when im giving it large. Bit stuck for ideas. Help would be appriciated.

I my day that might suggest valve stem oil seals were due for replacement, but I suppose it could be the turbo oil seal.... I'd expect that to be more consant tho'.

Yeah, as above. Leaky valve seal dripping oil into one or more of the pots while it is stood

thanks for the help so far guys. Ill take it for a run in a mo and get a mate to follow me so he can see if it smokes and when. Let you know the outcome later. Ive just had a brand new td05 18g fitted on there. Been on about 3ish months. So dont think its that.

Right, i didnt go out in the scoob today because i noticed something when i popped the bonnet. I have a front mount intercoler and noticed that where the 1st intercooler pipe comes out from the turbo it was weeping oil at the join. I had 3 large streaks of oil on the engine bay which wernt there about a week ago.

I removed the intercooler pipe where the weep was and noticed that there was a big blob of oil at each end. There was also an oil mist in the pipe. That was as far as i got with the search as ive now put it back together and tommorow hopefully i will take it out and get a mate to follow me to check for smoke.

My turbo has made a weird whininy noise recently on hard boost but i put it down to an air leak. Maybe this is linked with the oil leak and burning oil?
