Hi, Im about to throw a few bits at the car and wondered if the up pipe is worth swapping in a jdm stiv7

I'd do it with headers for max performance benefit.

But it is worth doing for the sake of potential turbo failure - the New Age up-pipe has a Lambda sensor in it, and if it breaks up... bye bye turbo!
