Default Classic engines

I run 2 classics at a rally school, one i believe to be a year 2000 car and the other is an sti ra with roof vent etc. I have blown up 2 engines now, one bent a rod for some reason and the other was knocking. Are the early and late classic engines different? if so what is differnet and what cars had the later engines? any help would be apreciated.

Cheers

Sounds like your just after the bottom ends, which are quite mix and match. I fitted a 05 2.5 sti block to my old 95 classic, direct fit, just used all the 95 heads, turbo, inlet ect.
