Default STI FUEL CONSUMPTION

Hi Guy's
I am new to the forum and just wanted to ask a couple of questions please.

I have just bought a 2006 2lt type uk sti with the Prodrive 301bhp conversion, the car has a large stainless exhaust and a HKS dump valve apart from the 3 pod gauges where the clock used to be its standard.

Now i know fuel consumption and Scoobies don't go together but mine seams very thirsty!

I used to have a 2001 WRX std and i could if i behaved get 30 mpg out of it.

Now i know the sti is more highly tuned but if i run round off boost and change up early i am lucky to get 18-20 mph if i give it some in short bursts i think it does about 10 mpg you can see the gauge moving!!

I have been running on purley super plus unleaded

Questions
1/is the above normal about right?
2/do i have to run on purely super plus or can i alternate between normal and super plus every other fill up.
3/What sort of BHP would this engine be capable of on stock internals and drive train etc and still be reliable?

Thanks

1) Yeah about right. Mine does about 180miles to a tank. The dump valve won't be helping fuelling either. Might be worth getting a remap, as this should improve the MPG over the prodrive map.....plus it may not have been mapped for the new exhaust, which it should have been.

2) Yeah, only use Tesco Super or V-Power ideally.

3) I'm going for 400-420 on my internals.

Mine is a 2003 STI running 350bhp at the moment.

Hi thanks for the reply
What size tank are on these then,i ask as i havent ran mine below a quarter full.
I have noticed though that it takes about 60 miles to go from full to 3 quarters then drops really quick so the gauge must be a bit un progressive

Thanks

PPP makes the car run very rich. I had my PPP remapped and MPG has improved considerably

He'll already have the ECUtek though won't he?

Jolly Green Monster on here is the guy to use. He will come to you, and map your car for £300 + VAT (if you already have the ECUtek that is)

I don't think ppp has a full ecutek licence so you need to pay full amount. Might be best to get a spare ecu and get that one done, can always sell the ppp one on then to help with the cost. Or even just keep it so you can put back to std come selling time

I know someone selling an ecutek ECU very soon which was mapped at Powerstation, so if you take it back there, it may not cost as much to get it remapped.
