Default Just added Launch Control

I have just added Launch control to my ECU, its amazing.

Plant your foot at the lights and the car rev up to 4.2k, bring in the clutch and perfect start every time. only for special occasions tho

I actually did the mod because it can be set as a sort of security device, the values can be set to stop someone driving your car over and preset rev, i have set mine to 1k revs, hopefully if anyone does get away with my car they will soon realise that they cannot go any faster than 1k rev in gear so bail out....but this cant be done on my age of car (only currenlty available for 01/02 cars)

Nice one matey, I loved it when I had it on my old Civic Type R, sat at the lights with it popping and banging certainly attracts attention!!

Moderators - please move this post if its in the wrong place.

This mod is available for newage cars only which havn't been map locked by Ecutek ect...

There are other tricks that can be added but it depended on your age of car (as some ECU’s are 16bit and newer ones are 32bit)

European cars
Launch Control on std map - WRX 01-07 STI 01-07
Launch Control - WRX 01-07 STI 01-07
LC and Flat foot Gear Changes - WRX 06-07 STI 06-07
Live Map switching with LC, Flat Foot Gear Changes, Cold Driving Rev Protection and Anti Theft Protection - WRX 01-02

Not sure about jp cars

Launch Control - Plant your foot and your car does not exceed 4k revs for a prefect launch every time
Flat foot Gear Shifting - No need to lift your foot when changing gear, it keeps the revs up perfectly, preset your max revs for
Security Mode - pre set yours revs to 3k for when you borrow your car to someone or set it super low so if the car is stolen they can’t go any higher than 1k revs in any gear and hopefully ditch it or you can simply walk up to your car and take it back. ;¬)
Map switch on the fly - switch maps whilst driving.

the science behind Launch control it is that your ECU is given an additional set of instructions that if your car is doing less than 8MPH then do not rev over 4.2k revs if you go over 8MPH then Rev up to the normal 7200revs, its effectively an add on to your original map and takes about an half an hour to add new instructions ready to onto you existing an ECU b+ut can take a couple of hours depending to go on to the ECU. It can also be removed at anytime too but i haven’t tried this yet

Mods on here are quite chilled TBH - they'll be fine about it (unlike a certain Satellite TV forum I'm a member of )

It is possible to do it yourself you need the cable (£100-£150) and the right combination of software about 2 days worth of reading up plus I had to pay for the Add on too.

Found LC video on youtube, it’s not mine (and i think the revs are set slightly too high) but still very good.

I could do it for you if your close by?

does this actually build boost on the line?
or is it just a stationary rev limiter? (same as launching normally by holding revs)

It is just a stationary rev limiter, but you can build boost no problem, how much depends on engine/turbo and a number of ECU settings.

Here is a camera phone shot of my Forester 2.5XT with LC set at 3200 rpm, boost will build to 0.7bar if I put my foot to the floor:

hi mate

I have a Bee-r rev limiter fitted to my 95 sti ra and when i bought it i was told that this has launch control built in. Does this work similar to your's. Mine has 3 settings the first being rev 1 (0-9), the next rev 2 (0-9) and the last one is gain (0-9). I've been trying to workout how to use this as the instructions are in japanese

cheers stevie

the Launch Control was quite low at the time but i was running a TD04 on a 2.5Ltr and it was fine, now i'm running a TD05 its now upto 4.7 , i find this fine with two men up..if you have more in the car then you would have to set the default higher..

personally i dont like wheel spin so 4.7 is good
