Default Fitting STi TMIC to WRX (Newage)

Hi guys,

I've just fitted a STI TMIC to my 2002 WRX, not the worlds easiest job as Subaru managed to put one of the hose clamps on in a totally in accessible manner!

Anyway I used the Samco Sport Silicone hoses but had a problem getting the TMIC to line up with the brackets, it appeared to be slightly too far right and needed forcing back to line up as I bolted it down. Is this normal or do I need different brackets etc?

Sometimes you can fit the elbow piece from the turbo the wrong way round. I've done this, but don't think I managed to line it up to the brackets at all. So, probably not your problem.

I've done this.... straight swap if you have all the correct bits from a 2.0 litre STi. , The real problem is that the WRX bugeye scoop / splitter only covers two thirds of the intercooler. For maximum benefit you neet the STi scoop and splitter

It won't give you any more actual BHP just more access to it as it reduces charge temps and the pressure drop is less than the WRX item

08 STi intercoolers are a little smaller AFAIK....have you bought one of these ??

It's not an 08 intercooler, too old looking for that - the hose idea makes sense I'll try it the other way around when I refit with the intake hose.

I've got an STI scoop and tray, just waiting for it to be painted before fitting, I'm currently running it without an undertray. I've got the Powerstation stage 1 but am planning to add a VF34 to the mix, so I'm collecting the extra parts, nxt on the list is a set of pink injectors then the turbo and a remap!
