Pretty much anything can be done. Depends how deep your pockets are & how reliable you want the engine & gearbox to be after your changes.

Example of what can be done to a MY01+ UK 2.0 WRX by a independent specialist :-

Street Legal Package 1
EcuTek Re-Map
3" Milltek Exhaust with Sports CAT
De-CAT Up Pipe
K&N Filter
~270bhp @ £1549 + VAT but include fitting
inc. Comprehensive Warranty

Street Legal Package 2 - NEW
EcuTek Re-Map
3" Milltek Exhaust with Sports CAT
De-CAT Up Pipe
K&N Filter
VF34 Turbo
~315bhp @ £2299 + VAT but include fitting
inc. Comprehensive Warranty

You can source secondhand parts & DIY fit as much as you are capable of doing which will keep costs down. But the Re-Map will have to be done properly & costs around £500 ish.

Welcome to the world of modifying.

That would depend on the hourly labour rate of whoever you used. You would have to make sure all the bits were compatible with each other. It's not a case of buying a bit of everything & taking it to a mate that works in a garage to fit round your house at the weekend.

If you source your own bits you may not get the warranty for the build that you would from a 1 stop package. That's where you pay the extra to get it done as an all in package with a warranty should it go wrong. 315bhp is achievable with reliability but you must do it right & not cut corners. It is about the limit for a standard WRX bottom end & 5 speed gearbox & standard clutch.

It would pay to have upgraded brakes & handling mods to go with your extra power. And don't skimp on tyres.

Not sure on gearboxes. There are too many variations of what fits what.

Have a word with David at API he can advise on what gearbox will mate up with your engine etc. He can tell you about how far is safe to tune your engine as well as do the work & supply the parts.
