Default Going from 90 degree entry to front entry turbo

I am replacing the 90 degree 16g on my version 2 sti with a front entry 18g.

Whats the easiest option for the replacement? Can i just fit a 90 degree samco? If so what size do i require and where is the best place to source one from?

Yes it's as simple as putting a 90 degree Samco on. I've done the same in switching to a 20g with my version 1 wrx. Its a bit of a fiddly job to do, but with patience you'll get there in the end. The size is 63 mm and you'll need a bit of steel pipe to act as a joiner between the samco and the pipe that comes down from the MAF. You can buy it all at Merlin motorsport. Another option is to lift your existing inlet manifold with spacers and utilise the front entry, as the 90 degree turn is quite restrictive. This is the route i'm looking at going although i've been told you need to reroute the fuel lines and fit a version 3 power steering reservoir.

Hope that helps.

Click on the link in my other post above and that'll take you to the Samco page on Merlin Motorsports online catalogue. I bought everything from them, you can order online or over the phone. Quick with the postage too.

Question

Taylor, would it be these items to mimic the top entry (plus a couple of Jubilees of course)?:-

SAMCO - 63MM 90 DEGREE BLUE HOSE ELBOW - E90-63

Merlin - HOSE JOINER 2:1/2 X 3 - RHJ-40-3

63mm may fit but I did a 20g with a 60mm 90 deg bend. Its so tight every mm counts.

I have now gone fully FE. As mentioned above I used Carl Davey manifold spacers, relocated the PS resevoir, went parallel fuel lines so that the rubber injection hose can be routed out of the way, used a metal water resevoir and mounted it back about 3 inches, then finally used this

REVOTEC - 63MM SILVER DUAL LAYER DUCT (PER METRE) - REV-SDL63

which is extremely flexible and works well. Expensive but not compared to some of these silicone inlet tracts on offer.

You need reroute the breathers to a catch can ideally for this.

I will post pics for anyone interested, when I finally charge the camera
