Hi,
More than likely it will cause the CEL to come on. the trouble code will say something like "cat efficiency below threshold"
You can download open port software for free and delete the CEL that way (you will obviously need the OBD II cable)
I think you can also buy some sort of device that plugs between the cat sensor and the pipe but i can't remember where from.
It is recommended that you get the car mapped after any mod really, I dont think Subaru's take too well to just bolting things on.

It MAY be o.k., watch out for boost spikes, I never had any problems with mine, for about a year, then I went for an FMIC and then re-mapped.

Have just had this problem fitting my decat on my 02 WRX(im still running a prodrive cat though).Cleared it using software, but it came back after about 30 minutes,so dont waste your money on tis short term fix.
Basically,i thinks its something to do with the heat that will now be passing through the exhaust(dont quote me on this!),that triggers the fault code.Anyway, took it to Powerstation and they soldered a bridge onto the sensors(small piece of wire) to overcome this problem-no more issues.
As you can gather,im not the most technical,so give them a call(or any other tuner as its obviously a common issues for new age cars).
Takes a few minutes-cheap as cold chips to do and i had my re map straight after

I removed my up pipe cat and just disabled P0546 error code and after about a month have had no issues with this. I however have ppp sportcat in downpipe so have had no issues with any other cel. I think P0420 is what you disable for this. Its easy to do but obviously a remap would get the most benefit from the mods.
