I have a Apexi PFC, and I think it allows you to set the rev limiter to any rpm point (JGM has mapped it to 7,050rpm). So, it can be done... but it is a bit of a "sledgehammer to crack a nut" solution.

Actually, doesn't the ECU cap revs to 3,500rpm (or is it 4,500rpm? ) if the speedo head is just simply disconnected?! But then your mate might get more speeding tickets through the post...

Regardless, nothing will be able to stop them thrashing it from stone cold!

You could always adjust the throttle cable,so it won't open fully. Or, tell him to stick it and hire a car!

Just say that they cannot get the insurance on the car due to them having an accident, so not your mates problem any more

Having the rev limit change with coolant temp is a standard feature on some ECUs.... although it might be a little extreme to swap the ECU just to stop someone thrashing a car from cold!

HarryR34, you have this fitted to your 04 STi? How does it work? Certain rev limit when stationary, then a different one for on the go? I may be interested if it genuinley is easy to install.

the problem is actually hitting the limiter is not nice on the engine..

just put a single piece of hose between actuator and compressor cover.. they will only then have low boost to play with.

Of course, of course - why din't we all think of that! Trust Simon to come in with his usual guru-esque 'torpedoing' of our lame suggestions lol

Yes eggy, get your mate (or you) to temp bypass the BCS by simply running a vac hose from comp nipple direct to W/G actuator nipple - that way they only get to flirt with c.0.5bar (sorry for sounding like an African Grey parrot ).

Sorted though.
