Default What to do ?

Hi all

I am going to move back to a scooby after a short break in ownership and want to know a few things. After owning several wrx models and alays reaching there limits and not wishing to spend fortunes building engines and then changing gearboxes etc i have decided to get a STI model, I am looking to tune whatever i get to around 500 bhp but have heard alot of differant things with regards to the engines on the sti models.

The plan is to not do a internal rebuild just bolt on parts like turbo, injectors, intercooler, fuel pump etc

The blob eye engine seems capable with a few mods to be able to reach this sort of power without problems and seems to be the better bet for me .

The 2.5 sti hawkeye is a newer car but will the engine internals be ok with this level of power ??

The 08 sti which is the one i am seriously looking at seemsonly capable of running around 400bhp safely .

I would prefer the new sti but will accept a hawkeye if the engine is reliable etc

what are peoples expieriences with this ??

cheers

tony

No 2.5 will manage 500 bhp out of the showroom, even forged motors are dying around 450/500 bhp.
I'd almost say a 2 litre is tougher and likely to make a safe 450 bhp.... but 500 bhp is a big ask, imho.

How do you like your car, a 380 bhp/450 lb.ft of 2.5 would make a swift road car, whereas a forged 2.1 will rev like a b*gger and give you the grunt you feel you need.

Good Luck !

If i could get 400bhp/450ftlb that would be nice, will this still be ok on a 08 sti ??

I want to be able to use my car hard on track but not keep replacing the engine etc

cheers
