To switch maps on mine,
Hold throttle down for 10s, ignition on, check lamp flashes and the rev counter will move to 1000rpm (map1) or 2000 rpm (map2) a press of the throttle switches between maps. V-clever

Your local Halfords should be able to provide you with a much more OEM looking switch. We buy the Pearly Wot Not switches from our local factor, they look just like an OEM switch and fit perfectly in the spare holes in the gearbox area with no cutting reqd.

There is no need for a switch on a Simtek for swapping maps. Just follow the procedure above kindly provided by Matt.
Also, if you have gone for Launch Control there is no need for a switch for that either as the Launch can be set up to operate from the neutral position indicator and the Launch set point, duration and ignition retard can all be dialled in to the appropriate sections on the Simtek software to suit your needs.

I agree there is no need for a switch. But its nice to have if you want to switch maps while on the move which cant be done using the above method. so in my eyes a switch is the better option.

i was told it wasnt always good to change the maps on the move as when you change the map from 1 to 2 or vv the idle control valve has to reset itself and in theory can give you a bad idle.

Thanks for clearing that up - I knew I read it somewhere (invariably from your good self)... but got muddled up with which ECU.
P.S. Simon, you've prob noticed I had an engine rebuild in the end! Ironically the heads were fine lol... but the block was rusty and had scoring to the bores. Paul - extremely generously - sorted me a replacement refreshed block (F.o.C!) and a set of STi 3/4 forged pistons and STi 9 rods for a good price. So all good in the end (apart form the cash - although the final price was very good for a 'hybrid' STi/WRX build). Hopefully, I've got a nice little motor on my hands - good for 350bhp later on...
