Default cylinder heads

Hi all,
Been a member for a while though only really in an observing sense.I have a my99 uk spec that is running on a20g and I am now bored and going for the next step.I have a closed deck forged block and a set of heads that I dont know what from though they have hydraulic lifters and have been ported and polished. The valves have E281 on the exhausts and I250 on the inlets does this mean anything to anyone. Also is it feasible to bore the block out to 97mm and fit 2.2 pistons as the stroke is the same I will be looking to run with a MD321T turbo in the end.Any help or opinions would be much appreciated.
Thanks Kiran

Hydraulic lifters would lean to early WRX STI Pre 96. The heads won’t work with your 99manifold/loom.

EJ20 CDB can’t be bored to 97mm it would have to be relined; the most you can bore to safely is 93mm

Just as well, as the MY93-96 hydraulic heads can become restrictive at higher power levels. So may as well flog 'em and get a set of the best Classic ones (I think) i.e. MY99/00 STi items, so as to also fit all your existing ancilleries.

First, try contacting JGM - he had a couple of sets of heads knocking about (although one was v.1 WRX ones; the other v.3/4 WRX ones, I think) But who knows what he might have...

Failing that, try ringing around all the specialists e.g. ZEN, API, RCM, Enginetuner, etc. They often have components lying around due to other customers' rebuilds/conversions, etc. Actually, I think Scooby Clinic have a vast supply of 2nd hand stuff...

I got lucky with my recent ZEN rebuild - Paul, incredibly generously, donated a replacement refreshed OBD block for free! and a decent set of 2nd hand STi 3/4 pistons and STi 9 rods for a small sum, too. You just may get a similar deal, if the specialist is 'desperate' to get rid (plus you'll know they'll be perfectly servicable items of the correct spec)...
