FMIC / Up-Pipe / Headers / Other guidance required...
A trip to the infamous ring has been planned around May time 2010 for me and a few others, and so will be looking to prep the P1 ready for it.
My current setup at present is:
Walbro 255
3” Group A downpipe.
2.5” H&S Centre
APS CAIK
LP MD304 Turbo
PE 550cc injectors
Currently RR’d at 343bhp / 335ft/lb. I think it would be wise to get a FMIC on there before I go to keep the charge temps down, and as my TMIC is on its limit and is a restriction. And I will also uprate my headers and up pipe.
FMIC –
* I will most likely be going with a Hybrid from Harvey, unless a deal comes up?
* Would i really see much of a performace gain from a hyrid to a APS and HKS unit that would justify the extra £££'s?
Headers –
* I believe the best choice would be to go for some unequal length tubular headers? Is unequal or equal length better?
* What pipe diameter should I be looking at as I believe they need to be sized according to which turbo I’m running so as to avoid lag?
* Is it worth getting them heat wrapped?
* Would ceramic coated see any performance gains over heat wrap or is it just tidier?
* Could anyone make a recommendation as to what headers to consider purchasing?
Up-pipe –
* I haven’t a clue about the up-pipes! Should I be looking to buy a header and up-pipe combo?
* Would the pipe diameter need to match the headers I choose?
* Could you anyone make a recommendation as to what up-pipe to consider purchasing?
Other Questions –
* Would I need a FPR at this stage?
* Should I be looking at changing to a 3” centre at this stage?
* Should I be looking at changing the back box at this stage?
* Is there anything else I should consider changing / modding / fitting? Brakes, tyres, ALK, ARB and DL’s have already been done, or will all be done before I go, and i will not be uprating the cluctch or gearbox.
