Post EJ20 removal

im pretty much there to lift out the engine in my 1998 classic. (downpipe off, turbo and everything else etc)

can anyone tell me how to seperate from gearbox please so i can make sure i dont break something. I have taken out bolts and removed starter motor but apart from the engine mounts beneath the car i dont know what else to do,

Cheers.

don't forget to remove the clutch fork pivot pin, it sits behind a Allen key bung behind the starter motor, one removed lift the fork out of the release bearing, other than that you should be al right just take your time.

Ok thanks, i did spot that earlier, just didnt know what it was.

Also there seems to be some bolts going through the gear box (one or two either side) and into the engine but havent got any heads on and are flush with the bell housing, are these just studs for lining up or something?

Is it just me or is undoing turbo and exhaust nuts and bolts the hardest thing in the world??

Ive broken two, 3/8 drive ratchets this week as ive had to slide a bar over the handle to get the leverage to undo things.

There a 2 locating dowel's (one each side) on the engine/bellhousing face and 2 long studs at the bottom of the bellhousing.
You might want to invest in a decent 1/2" breaker bar - ideal for cracking the turbo/downpipes nuts loose.

Yea your right about that, i did invest in a full 1/2" drive tengtools socket set and that has quite a good bar in it.

How do you mean you got stuck on the release fork??

I hopefully going to attemp it this afternoon, so replies today would be appreciated,

thanks lads, what would i do without this site..............
