Default methanol power gains

What kind of power gains have people been getting after adding 10% methanol into the fuel tank after mapping compared to just vpower.I was thinking of doing this instead of water injection

10~20bhp depending on whether it is the ignition advance holding the power up or not..

that goes for octane booster as well if the ignition is at max

Water injection is a totally different thing and the benifits would be a lot more than just adding 10% meth-I've done both

the system is expensive, labour is a large part of the cost.
Initially my gains were 10bhp and 15lbs/ft across the power band, in addition spool-up was 300rpm earlier, this came from advancing the timing to about as far as it would go.The figures may have been better with a bigger turbo (the VF34 is at its limit) which is my next step. On the road the car is very quick.
The system reduces the risk of detonation by lowering charge temperatures, so I should have a safer runner.

You could fit a tank of 50/50 water and methanol and use that for the "water" for injection.........

Yes .

How much power gained is car dependent. Even if you gain nothing with ignition advance you should be less prone to det with a methanol mix.

The higher percentage of methanol or ethanol you use will see more gains.

Both are oygenated fuels so will make more power than ordinary petrol.

I like the idea of WI but think using better fuel is superior.

OT: In fact many many years ago in the turbo era Ferrari successfully added / mixed water to fuel as an anti det agent.

When mine was mapped for 10% methanol and a splash of NF, tope end gained approx 20bhp & 30lb/ft but the main area was the midrange, gained 60bhp & 90lb/ft at 4000rpm.

Think the approx figure is 7% gains at top end.
