Default no power related to engine dying ?

Guys, my engine is on its way out due to the big end bearings.

gave it a little drive the other day.

It was fine to start with, then all of a sudden, i had no power.
Was only doing about 30, so changed to second and still nothing..
Was like a learner first time in the car.. Bumpy all the time. Only time i could move is when i lightly pressed the throttle, all though i could still feel it.

Could this be related to the fact the engine is dying, or is this something else. Fuel filter maybe? is it not giving enough petrol ?
