Default Engine/Remap Experts

Current spec of my 2002 WRX is as follows:
  • Walbro Fuel Pump
  • Prodrive Boost Solonoid
  • Milltek 3' Sports cat exhaust (Turbo back)
  • Magnex De-cat up-pipe
  • ECUTek Remap (PowerStation)
  • K & N Panel Filter
Giving 275BHP

Now the questions,
  1. I have just bought an STI TMIC, can I fit this without affecting the map? (And yes I do have an STI scoop and undertray!)
  2. How easy is it to fit a VF34 Turbo, and should I fit uprated injectors as well or will the std WRX ones be up to the job? (I know this will involve a remap!)
Trying to work out if I should fit my new toy (the STI top mount) straight away or leave it sitting until I can source and fit the turbo.

It will make little difference UNTIL re-mapped stick it on.... Your ecu should also manage a change of injectors o.k. for normal use, NOT Time Attack style motoring. STI pink injectors would be ideal imho, VF34 I know nothing about, bye !

Ideally everything gets fitted at once then mapped, however changing the TMIC in the mean time wont cause any issues.

550cc Injectors will allow more head room.

Turbo change isnt too difficult as long as you spray plenty WD40 on the 5 nuts at the downpipe.

Once there off, its plain sailing. You do need a 14mm 6 sided socket and as many different sized extension bars as you can find to get them off.

Remove intercooler
Remove downpipe
Remove coolant pipes and oil feed banjo's from turbo
Remove the 3 nuts holding the turbo to the uppipe
Slacket the 8mm jubillee clip on the turbo inlet pipe
Lift turbo off.

Think thats about it, from memory anyway.

As for injectors, you would be better with 550's and they are a pain to change. Took me 3 and a half hrs the first time. Then another 2hrs to stop them leaking (vaseline does the trick)

Also, dont fit these till the day before the re-map as your car will severely overfuel and must not be driven on boost.
I changed mine, took it a blast and it wouldnt rev over 3000 because of the above reason so I had to change them back til the day before my mapping.

Cheers, guys - Since the intercooler's got to come off for the turbo swap I'll just leave it until I do the lot, or get the lot done! Time to start trying to find a VF34 thaen see when the Jolly Green Monster's free!
