Exclamation WHAT SORT OF POWER WILL THIS ENGINE TAKE... EASILY ???

Hi.

Can anyone give me an indication of what sort of horsepower a rebuilt engine, comprising the following, will be able to EASILY handle (with appropriate supporting mods)...

- 2.0L ODB block
- original WRX v.1/2 heads
- Cosworth MLS head gaskets
- new piston rings set
- STi 3/4 forged pistons
- STi 9 rods
- ACL 'Race Series' main bearing set
- ACL 'Race Series' big-end bearing set

Are the STi 9 rods worth having - are they that much stronger than early WRX ones?

I can get hold of the above pistons and rods, 2nd hand, for £173 - I take it this is a 'bargain'?

Thanks in advance for any knowledgeable input.

P.S. I'm aware of the WRX gearbox's age/shortcomings at beyond 350-odd, so ignore that for the time being.... just concentrate on the motor, lol.

Sure, sure, but what is the above set-up capable of, regardless?

Joz i would say it should be ok for 400BHP don't forget above 450BHP the ODB is prone to going....So 400 should be safe bet.

But remember Det will kill anything.

Thumbs up

Sorry everyone.

I've had a suitable answer form Paul at Zen - who are doing the rebuild - and am satisfied with what he has to say about what to expect from it, etc..

Baley, no worries re det - already got a mapped PFC.and will get it re-tweaked at Zen after the running in period
