If it's a 2 port boost solenoid then the pill should go here, this is the standard solenoid which came with the car so it should be as follows unless somebody has modded it:
Between the compressor and wastegate vacum pipe.

And heres a 3 port boost solenoid and this pic gives you an idea of where the pill goes on these.

Quick question, my air intake to resonator is not connected. If i remove the restrictor what difference would it make?
Cheers, John

You can get these restrictor pills from the dealers mate.
I changed my vacumm hoses a while back & through this pill in the bin with the old hose & i was suffering from flat spots too.
Pop the new pill in & im sure you'll be sorted as it worked for me.

Yes it will remember to get a selection i think they go 1.0mm 1.1mm 1.2mm and so forth will allow you to experiment with what works best.
Or a mapper could tell you exactly what should be used.

The restrictor pill in the gauge vacum line won't help though.

From Subaru dealer you can order 0.5, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 and 1.5mm in brass for around £2 each. Very unlikely he'll want the 1.2 or 1.5 on a '99 car.

IIRC UK Car with TD04 is 1.2mm , VF Turbo's STi are 1.0mm
I know I normally fit a 1.0mm pill when re-mapping the 2001> WRX.

yes,
if it's boosting 1.75 bar I would also clean out all the pipes and pill with carb cleaner as it sounds like it is nearly blocked (if the car is slightly overfilled with oil and it blows into the pipes)

Guys guys, more boost brings fuel cut and trust me you don't want that. Unless you go for a full map/ecu or you can cut a corner with a fuel cut defender but it's not advisable.

Do you mean a restrictor in the line to a boost gauge or a sensor? You have restrictors in boost gauges to stop the needle going crazy, some have then on the back of the gauge others have them in the t piece.
