3 port valve
I a currently getting some parts together for a power upgrade on the Scoob and have been advised that I should get a 3 port boost valve. I've seen one on Ebay but I don't know if this sort would be suitable or not.
How do these valves work and where are they located, I've not come across them on engines I've worked on in the past..
Brass lockable 3 port bleed valve. (Boost Control) on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 27-Feb-09 10:26:39 GMT)
Thanks in advance

Some confusion here I think...
You've been advised to fit a 3-port boost control solenoid (BCS) valve. The item in your link is a 'bleed valve'.
The 3-port BCS is a standard fit item on early Classic Imprezas and is contolled by the ECU to make sure the engine recieves the safe optimum amount of boost at all times (depending on info from all of the input engine's sensors).
The brass bleed valve in your link bypasses the BCS, so is not a 'good' way of raising boost IMHO. Best to have the ECU 'involved' all the time (plus, with a bleed valve, you are limited to how much extra boost you can run - typically no more than an 0.2bar/3psi).

What you are after is a 3 port boost solenoid.
Your car has a standard 2 port boost solenoid as standard but a 3 port boost solenoid is more accurate and works better on high power applications.
It is located on a bracket on the driver side strut turret it has 2 pipes one of which goes to the actuator on the turbo and the other to the inlet manifold.

This is what you want:-
Boost Solenoid Plumbing
Although you only need to swap over the central brass solenoid itself (you can keep alll your other gubbins that will reconnect to it). That said, you also need the bottom bleed hose on the BCS's bottom port - this has the important little restrictor pill in it. This pipe can either be left dangling in free air or, as labelled, vented back into the air intake system.
