Default 5000 revs

Does anyone know of a reason why sometimes when i accerlate hard the engine cuts out at 5000 revs? but if i accerlate slow it doesnt? it allways starts back up when i change gear? its on a 92 import impreza.

cheers 4 any help as its giving me whip lash now!!

lower the boost or a remap.

Has the car got a boost controller or has the boost just increased due to decat?

ive had it for 2 years and aint touched the boost since ive had it cause it was running anit done anything but services, it had a de-cat when i had car, i aint had a boost controller fitted since i had the car and i dont fink it had one. it was running fine untill a few days ago.
Could it be the MAF sensor? how i i know if this was fuked?
