Default How do I know which turbo I have?

I just got my car yesterday. Its an 06 2.0l STI. I've been hearing about various turbos, like the twin scroll or VF. How do I find out what I have fitted.

Also was going to upgrade the filter. What works best, new panel or complete intake. I only intend changing the exhaust so a filter switch and a remap will also be done.

I'm sure someone will come along and tell you what is fitted on that model, I don't know.
But, if you feel like it you can actually take a look. On the compressor housing there will be a machined flat piece with some model numbers.

Is your car a JDM or a UK? (you say she is an 06, last of the blobs or first of the hawks?)

All the descriptions don't mean much to me as its my first scooby. From what I can see its the same as an 05 just registered in March 06. Its a Type UK STI. I've attached a couple of pics. I think I'm right in saying its the same as the 05 Type UK, just registered late.

Will that be on the housing, and what does that mean in terms of power?
I have a new exhaust system coming and a set of Prodrive 18" Anthracite wheels, so should look much nicer in a couple of weeks.

Very good turbo . Can do about 350/350 (with appropriate supporting mods), and has decent lowish spool characteristics. Enjoy!

Supporting Mods? My thoughts were upgrade filter, exhaust, fuel pump and a remap from Andy Forest (booked for the 12th of March) Anything else required?

You've covered evrything worthwhile doing. Is the exhaust mod inclusive of a decat downpipe though?

Also, do you know what size injectors a 05 STi blob has?

I've gone with the TSL system including downpipe. Walbro fuel pump.

Not sure about injector size. Will ask Andy Forrest before hand.

What do you think I can expect from that on a remap?

What are they std - 280? 300?

Whatever, add about 40-60bhp on top, after remap.

I have no idea what the std is. Either way I'll be happy with that kind of gains.
