My MY99 has an ignition barrel fault where the key can be removed while the engine is running. In order to solve this I have obtained a replacement steering column with integral barrel and associated attachments including a set of keys.

Am I right in thinking that the chip in the replacement keys will work with the transponder loop around the new barrel / steering column or will I need to visit a dealer to get the alarm sync’d to the keys? I’ve been searching but not found anything conclusive.

The new ring around the barrell should work with the keys that come with it.
If not you can keep your own, and just swap the chips in the keys.
