Due to the amount of work required, I think it highly unlikely you'll get anyone that knows what they're doing to make a house call. There's plenty of places that'll trailer your car to their workshop to do the work though.... There's one just the other side of B'ham for a start, API. You can't use the car whilst it's in that state, so why have it sitting on your drive?

That sounds bad and not just a case of bearings. Did you get any warning signs like noisier than usual on starting, or did it go 'bang'?
Either way, you need to get this picked up by a specialist for diagnosis, and definitely don't start it, let a lone drive it until that's done!!
