CEL Fix Box
#3
Sorry Dude, I could have answered sooner. Look on Fleabay for an OBDII (that is, OBD2) Code Reader. Normally about £30 - 40. There are lots. You can read your fault code and cancel it. There are more sophisticated plugs that go into the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) Port under the steering column and connect to your PC and have software etc but that's too clever for me. I had a CEL come on and borrowed my mates code reader and cancelled it. Luckily I have never seen it again.

Try here OBD2 Code Readers for DiY vehicle diagnostics using Code Scanners for DTC Just check that the reader works with your car. If you can get a reader for £25 it will pay for itself in a short time.

The CEL fix you mean is an electronic box that fits between the ECU and the rear lambda sensor and "fools" the ECU into thinking you have not removed the cats from the car !!
They are flakey because the Newage ECU expects a fluctuating reading from the sensor and when it gets a steady signal saying "i am a catalythic converter" it can still throw a CEL
I got one and gave up
EcuTeK remap sorted it with improved performance and I threw it away ..LOL
Shaun
PS isn't there another thread somewhere LOL
