Default Air Filter

Hi all, ive just been taking my cone off the car to clean it and have noticed the small solenoid thing on the wing with a small pipe going to nothing and its not blanked off

I never removed the original air box and fitted the cone so not sure if i need to blank it.

My car is a 1994 wrx - ra

cheers, john

I presume its the purge pipe your refering to, its just for vacum released from the boost solenoid and usually mounts up to the resonator box where it re-circulates back into the air way.

Its no biggy and will not affect anything. SO no worries.

Heres how mines fitted still keeping the resonator box

You can see the black box just after the MAF pipe. And i'm assuming this is how yours is fitted Jon.

Well the Apexi does come with the metal pipe so that's why i don't have the resonator.

John nothing to worry about mate as said earlier, the nipples on the resonator boxes tend to snap anyway and people either rip them out as BlackWRX did or do what the previous owner of my scoob did.

The nipple that the vacum hose should connect to is on the side at very bottom of resonator box. The nipples probably snapped off so the reason why hose is hanging, you can repair resonator box nipple using a brass screw in nipple if you really want, but as said earlier you can just remove hose from solenoid and let the solenoid purge to air or repair resonator box. Your choice squire.....

That's enough on nipples now....

Nothing to worry about i would say, these engines get so hot it will burn off after the cars warmed up. Whats the issue with that anyway Jon?

Personally it doesn;t affect mine don't know why or maybe i just don't pay enough attention.

But you can either remove resonator and try relocating filter or there are little scoops you could use to stop it happening...

Something like this:

Again this is no issue, but can be found on ebay for cheap £'s. Or you could use a blanket type instead.

Good Luck mate.
